Advertiser goals, approved assets, audience controls and verified events enter an automation system; human review checks generated variants, policy, brand and customer outcomes before scaling.
Advantage+ is a family of automation
Meta uses the Advantage+ name for automated audience, placements, creative and campaign solutions. Exact products and defaults change. Automation can evaluate many delivery opportunities, but it only knows the goals, events, values, controls and assets available to it.
Do not call every automated setting a black box and stop managing it. Document which inputs are suggestions, which are controls and which outcomes the system is pursuing.
Automation amplifies input quality
Input
Risk If Weak
Conversion event
Delivery optimizes toward accidental, duplicated or low-value actions.
Customer value
Bidding treats unequal customers as equal or learns false priorities.
Creative assets
Generated combinations repeat vague claims or poor product presentation.
Audience controls
Ads reach locations or ages the business cannot serve.
Product/catalog data
Wrong price, image or availability reaches customers.
Generative creative needs human review
Eligible Meta tools may expand images, generate backgrounds, vary text, resize assets or create other versions. Review every enabled feature and preview representative placements. Generated content can distort products, invent details, alter skin/body appearance, hide disclaimers or conflict with brand rights.
Keep source rights and approvals. Do not use automation to create fake testimonials, impersonations or prohibited claims. Labels and availability for AI-generated advertising can change by product and market.
Product, person and setting are represented accurately.
Prices, promotions and conditions remain correct.
Logos, packaging and trademarks are not distorted.
No unsupported performance or health/financial claim appears.
Safe zones and captions remain usable.
Source media and creator permissions cover advertising.
The generated variant is recorded and approved.
Opportunity scores and recommendations are inputs
Meta may show campaign or opportunity scores and recommendations. Meta states that a high score does not reflect actual or future performance. Review each recommendation against business economics, policy, experiment design and measurement.
Applying every automation can remove a deliberate constraint or contaminate a test. Rejecting every recommendation can also miss useful improvements. Use informed judgment.
Policy governs ad, destination and behavior
Meta Advertising Standards cover prohibited and restricted content, deceptive practices, personal attributes, discriminatory behavior, data use and destination quality. Some products or topics require authorization, age/country restrictions or Special Ad Categories.
Approval is not a legal opinion or performance endorsement. An ad may be reviewed again after launch. Keep substantiation and monitor changes.
Account security is campaign hygiene
Use Business Portfolio ownership, individual role-based access, two-factor authentication and verified domains/payment methods where appropriate. Remove former staff and agency access promptly. Never share personal passwords.
Phishing messages often imitate policy warnings. Open Account Quality and Business Support through official Meta routes rather than unknown links.

Common mistakes
Treating audience suggestions as strict boundaries.
Scaling a duplicated or weak conversion event.
Accepting generated creative without product/claim review.
Applying every recommendation to chase a score.
Ignoring comments, refunds and downstream lead quality.
Using personal attributes or misleading before/after claims.
Uploading customer data without rights and permission.
Evading enforcement instead of correcting the cause.
Sharing passwords or leaving excessive access active.
Real-world example
Example: AI expansion changes the product
Example
An automated image expansion adds accessories that are not included with a furniture product. The preview looks polished but creates a false expectation. Human review disables the variant, supplies a correct wider source image and updates the approval checklist before scaling.
Try this
Create an automation register
List every Advantage+/AI feature active in one campaign, what it may change, the hard controls, the person who approves outputs, the rollback method and the business metric used to judge it.
Common questions
Questions beginners ask.
What is Advantage+?
Meta’s family of automated audience, placement, creative and campaign solutions; exact features vary.
Is Advantage+ fully automatic?
It automates many decisions, but the advertiser supplies goals, data, assets and controls and remains responsible for results and compliance.
Can Meta generate ad images and text?
Eligible tools can create or adapt assets, but availability varies and outputs require human review.
Does a high opportunity score guarantee performance?
No. Meta states the score does not reflect actual or future performance.
What happens when an ad is rejected?
Read the stated policy, correct the ad/destination or request review through official tools if the decision is believed incorrect.
Can I create a new account after suspension?
Using new accounts to evade enforcement can be treated as circumvention. Address the cause and appeal appropriately.
Who owns AI-generated ad mistakes?
The advertiser remains responsible for claims, rights, policy compliance and the customer experience.
How should agency access be handled?
Use role-based business access, individual accounts and timely removal rather than shared credentials.
