Shopify Payments in the UAE: What Is Available, and to Whom?

Shopify Payments is now documented as available in the UAE, but eligibility, entity details, bank account requirements and the effect on an existing payment setup still need checking before activation.

Shopify Payments in the UAE: What Is Available, and to Whom?

QUICK ANSWER

Shopify now documents Shopify Payments as available for eligible UAE businesses. Availability does not remove the need to check the entity, business category, verification documents, UAE bank account and the operational effect of changing from an existing gateway.

Checked against Shopify’s official UAE documentation on 4 October 2026. The rules and rates can change, so the final account screen and current Shopify terms remain the deciding source.

What is currently available in the UAE?

Shopify Payments can be activated by eligible UAE merchants to accept supported credit and debit cards and accelerated checkout methods. Payments, orders and disputes are managed inside Shopify rather than through a separate gateway dashboard.

Who can qualify?

Eligibility depends on the legal entity, what the business sells and whether Shopify can verify the business and its people. Shopify’s UAE requirements include supported business types, a commercial registration number and suitable identity and business documents. Non-profit organisations are listed as ineligible. Restricted products or incomplete verification can also prevent activation.

What bank account is required?

AED payouts require an eligible UAE checking account with an AE IBAN. The account-holder details need to match the business structure: a company account for company entities, or the relevant legal-name account for a sole establishment. Shopify documents USD multi-currency payouts separately and with additional plan and bank-location conditions.

How can a store check access?

  • Open Settings → Payments in Shopify admin.
  • Review whether Shopify Payments is offered for the store’s country and entity.
  • Prepare the commercial registration, owner or representative details and bank information.
  • Read any account-specific notice before deactivating an existing gateway.
  • Confirm card rates, international rates, payout timing and any plan-specific conditions shown for the account.

Do not change a working payment setup blindly

A payment change affects more than the checkout button. Review current subscriptions, refunds, chargebacks, stored payment methods, reconciliation, accounting, cash flow, supported currencies and any app that depends on the existing gateway. Plan a quiet test window and keep a rollback route where the platform allows it.

How should fees and settlement affect the decision?

Compare the full flow: card-processing rates, any international-card rate, Shopify plan costs, third-party transaction fees that may disappear or change, refund handling and payout timing. Shopify’s published UAE material currently shows a minimum settlement time, but a new or reviewed account may experience different timing. Use the figures shown for your own plan and account rather than copying an old rate from an article.

What should an ineligible merchant investigate?

Use Shopify’s UAE payment-gateway directory to identify providers available for the store’s location and business type. Check onboarding, settlement currency, refund workflow, recurring payment support, local payment methods, technical integration and Shopify’s third-party transaction fee. Standalone Stripe is not automatically an alternative in a Shopify Payments country.

Decision table

  • Choose Shopify Payments when the business is eligible, the supported methods fit customers and the integrated workflow improves operations.
  • Keep investigating when documents, entity type, product category or bank setup do not meet the current requirements.
  • Delay switching when subscriptions, refunds, accounting or an important app has not been tested.

Frequently asked questions

Is Shopify Payments available in the UAE?

Yes, Shopify’s current official documentation lists the UAE as supported, subject to eligibility and verification.

Does every UAE Shopify store qualify?

No. Business type, products, registration, verification and bank details still matter.

How long do payouts take?

Shopify publishes a UAE minimum settlement time, but actual timing can vary by account, risk review, payment method and banking process.

Will I still pay transaction fees?
